18th December 2005 Christmas Walk at Rivington

18th December 2005 Lancashire Group's Christmas walk at Rivington
Walk report by Rob Burrow
It was good to see so many members join us at Upper Rivington. A good few members still come to this Christmas get together, even through they no longer cycle with the Lancashire group. Among those present were Jack and Evelyn Green and Larry Hughes formerly from Southport, altogether I counted 26 members who turned up on the day. Twenty members  joined me for a two hour walk to Liverpool Castle on Rivington Reservoir and then back for a half  circuit of Anglezarke reservoir. I through at one point I was hallucinating. Half a dozen Llamas decked in Christmas hats and red and white cloaks passed us. (Its true ask others on the walk). This reminded me of a past journal when Jim Watkinson described a similar incident when he saw some long necked sheep looking over a hedge on his way back to Southport. I’ve come to the conclusion that it must be something to do with the water Jim!
After the walk Sharon had kindly asked all members back to her house for a post walk Hot Pot. Those who did not join us don’t know what they missed.
Thanks Sharon for the lovely spread and thanks to Andrew for the excellent waiter service.
